So, on that note, what women say is bothering them includes hot flushes, night sweats, cold flushes—well, maybe not cold flushes, but definitely night sweats. We're looking at joint pain, vaginal dryness, low libido, weight gain, sleep issues, anxiety, depression, brain fog, and fatigue, which is a massive one. I compiled this chart outlining the main symptoms women report: headaches, mood swings, the usual things you associate with perimenopause and menopause. There are also many other symptoms that we don't even realize are due to perimenopause and hormonal changes, but they are.
These symptoms make women realise that something is changing. The symptoms usually come first—they signal that something’s not right, something’s changing. This is pretty much where it starts. That said, I feel there’s also something else going on.
Jenny Burrell introduced me to this idea, and as soon as she said it, I was like, "Yes, this is it." The idea is that our inner map has changed. Our life has changed. Who we were isn’t who we are now. What worked for us in the past doesn’t work anymore. Women often say, "I used to do this, this, and this, and it’s just not working now. Why did it work then and why not now?" Things have changed massively, including our values. What we wanted, needed, and believed has all changed. We’re confused about what's going on, why we feel so different, how to transition through this, and what’s happening. We have no idea where to go next or who we actually are.
Hence, I think we need a new map—a new blueprint, a new idea of who I am right now and what I want.
