# Things happening in your body
##### Untangling Pain
---

---
## tl;dr
- Symptoms such as headaches, IBS, anxiety, and changing hormones can feel like danger inside your body.
- You may not be able to remove every bodily DIM, but understanding its pattern can reduce some of the uncertainty.
- Tracking your cycle can show when you may need more SIMs and support.
- Calm, ease, optimism, and a sense that healing is possible can also be felt in the body.
- Ask what influences you can change, without blaming yourself for the symptoms you cannot control.

> Onto things happening in your body. So what are the DIMs and what are the SIMs that are happening in your body that affect your nervous system, that affect your pain?
>
> DIMs. I've got headaches and migraines. Absolutely. So the things happening in our body, these headaches and migraines that are feeling like a danger in us that are influencing our nervous system and our pain.
>
> Obviously, it's a pain in itself, but you get the point.
>
> DIMs anxiety and depression. These are things that are happening in your body. It's a physical response. So again, these can create this danger in me.
>
> Hormones. This is why I've mentioned so many times that hormones are so, so important for us to understand, so we know how they create this danger in me, and I think sometimes actually knowing about hormones can make them more of a sim. So just knowing what is going on, that understanding can create a safety in me.
>
> So if you don't know what's going on with your hormones, then they can be a massive dim for you because things are happening in your body, things are changing, nervous system, inflammation, all the rest of it is going on. So hormones are probably a dim for most women, I think.
>
> IBS, I've put this down just as IBS, but again, it's not necessarily IBS.
>
> For some clients it was constipation, it was diarrhea. I just put IBS as a general term. So again, things are happening in your body and quite often you are not in control of that particular thing, so you are not in control of the headache or the depression or hormones or IBS.
>
> You're not in control of that thing, but what you might be in control of is understanding what is going on. You might be in control of the things that influence headaches and depression and hormones and IBS. So the things you do, the things you believe, the things you maybe eat and drink.
>
> All these things can be influenced, but these things happening in your body might be a dim anyway, so it's worth putting them down and identifying what they are.
>
> It might be that we can't change it, but that's okay. We're identifying what the dim is for us.
>
> In the case of hormones, if we can identify a dim as being our hormones we know that during certain times of the month things happen in our body influence pain, then we know that actually at that point in our cycle that's where we need more SIMs in our life. That's where we need to, work harder to create more of a safety because things are happening in our body that we might not have control over, but we do have control over the SIMs quite often.
>
> So when it comes to the SIMs, we're looking at things happening in your body, feeling optimistic. Okay. It's a feeling. It's happening in your body. It's a it's a feeling. Obviously there's things that you can do to help you feel optimistic. Things you think and believe and you learn.
>
> So that can influence it. A feeling of ease and calm. Again, we are in control of that feeling of ease and calm. Yes, there are stressors in our life. But how we choose to approach it is up to us. So we can get to choose that feeling of ease and calm. We just need to work at that. And that is a whole different course in itself.
>
> SIMs again, actually I've put hormones on this. Things happen in your body 'cause we can influence it. And knowing about SIMs is important for us. So for me hormones are both DIMs and SIMs. There's certain times of the month where I struggle with my hormones, but just knowing about them means that I feel safe and that understanding of hormones is massive for me.
>
> Also as well, when it comes to hormones, there are certain parts in your cycle, which as we've shown before in the previous trainings, there are certain times where you might feel less pain and where you are happier and more confident.
>
> So that then can create that safety in you. So physically that's what might be happening.
>
> Things happening in your body, SIMs. Healing. Just because you've got pain now doesn't mean it's always gonna be this way. We can heal, our body heals. It really does. It's what it does best if we give it the right tools to do so.
>
> So what is on your list of things happening in your body, your DIMs and your SIMs? Write them down. Make that list.

DIMs: Things Happening in Your Body That Create Danger in Me
I’ve got headaches and migraines. Absolutely.
These headaches and migraines are feeling like a danger in us that are influencing our nervous system and our pain.
Obviously, it’s a pain in itself, but you get the point.
DIMs: anxiety and depression. These are things that are happening in your body.
It’s a physical response. So again, these can create this danger in me.
Hormones. This is why I’ve mentioned so many times that hormones are so, so important for us to understand.
So we know how they create this danger in me, and I think sometimes actually knowing about hormones can make them more of a SIM.
Just knowing what is going on, that understanding can create a safety in me.
If you don’t know what’s going on with your hormones, then they can be a massive DIM for you.
Things are happening in your body, things are changing, nervous system, inflammation, all the rest of it is going on.
Hormones are probably a DIM for most women, I think.
IBS. I’ve put this down just as IBS, but again, it’s not necessarily IBS.
For some clients it was constipation, it was diarrhea.
I just put IBS as a general term.
Things are happening in your body and quite often you are not in control of that particular thing.
You are not in control of the headache or the depression or hormones or IBS.
You’re not in control of that thing, but what you might be in control of is understanding what is going on.
You might be in control of the things that influence headaches and depression and hormones and IBS.
The things you do, the things you believe, the things you maybe eat and drink.
All these things can be influenced, but these things happening in your body might be a DIM anyway, so it’s worth putting them down and identifying what they are.
It might be that we can’t change it, but that’s okay.
We’re identifying what the DIM is for us.
In the case of hormones, if we can identify a DIM as being our hormones we know that during certain times of the month things happen in our body influence pain.
Then we know that actually at that point in our cycle that’s where we need more SIMs in our life.
That’s where we need to work harder to create more of a safety because things are happening in our body that we might not have control over.
But we do have control over the SIMs quite often.
SIMs: Things Happening in Your Body That Create Safety in Me
When it comes to the SIMs, we’re looking at things happening in your body.
Feeling optimistic. Okay. It’s a feeling. It’s happening in your body. It’s a feeling.
Obviously there’s things that you can do to help you feel optimistic. Things you think and believe and you learn.
That can influence it.
A feeling of ease and calm. Again, we are in control of that feeling of ease and calm.
Yes, there are stressors in our life. But how we choose to approach it is up to us.
We can get to choose that feeling of ease and calm. We just need to work at that.
That is a whole different course in itself.
SIMs again. Actually, I’ve put hormones on this.
Things happen in your body ’cause we can influence it.
Knowing about SIMs is important for us.
So for me, hormones are both DIMs and SIMs.
There’s certain times of the month where I struggle with my hormones, but just knowing about them means that I feel safe.
That understanding of hormones is massive for me.
When it comes to hormones, there are certain parts in your cycle, which as we’ve shown before in the previous trainings, there are certain times where you might feel less pain and where you are happier and more confident.
That then can create that safety in you.
So physically that’s what might be happening.
Things happening in your body, SIMs.
Healing. Just because you’ve got pain now doesn’t mean it’s always gonna be this way.
We can heal, our body heals.
It really does. It’s what it does best if we give it the right tools to do so.
