# ↑ Oestrogen = ↑ Pain [[(Aloisi, 2017)]] Hyperalgesia is an increased response to a stimulus that is normally painful. In a nutshell, something that is usually painful is even more painful when hyperalgesia is experienced.  And Oestrogen influences the increased severity of hyperalgesia making painful situations even more so.  How do we know?  Researchers made this conclusion after removal of the ovaries and blocking of the Oestrogen receptors reduced both Inflammatory and visceral pain. So more oestrogen meant more pain. And less oestrogen meant less pain.  [[(Ji et al., 2018)]] [[(Li et al., 2009)]]
