## Notes
##### What Today is About
- Today is about **moving forward**. Not massive plans or grand visions—just the **next right step**.
- Over the last four days, you’ve [[Find Your Way Home – Day 1|checked your compass]], [[Find Your Way Home – Day 2|found your bearings]], [[Find Your Way Home – Day 3|lightened your load]], and [[Find Your Way Home – Day 4|chose your path]]. Today is about **putting those things into action**.
##### Why Not Overplan
- If you’re like me, you might want to plan the next 20 steps. I used to do that.
- The truth is, plans change constantly. What matters more is **taking the step that feels right right now**.
- Take a step, recalibrate, take the next one. **Keep moving towards what matters and away from what doesn’t.**
##### Using Your Worksheet
- **Worksheet:** [[Taking the next right step.pdf]]
1. **Name Your Aim**
- What is your focus today? The one decision you want to make?
- Could be anything: quiet mornings, starting a business, getting back into fitness, saying no more often, or letting go of guilt.
- Keep it honest. It needs to **matter to you**.
2. **Map Out All Possible Steps**
- Write down all the things you could do that move you toward your aim—or help you let go of what doesn’t fit.
- Big or small, preferably small. Don’t overthink it. Print extra sheets if needed.
- **Examples:**
- Business: choose a name, write ideas for offers, create a website or Facebook page, find a coach.
- Quiet mornings: phone downstairs, music/headphones first thing, let others get on with their stuff, journal before scrolling.
- Saying no: practice saying it out loud, wait 24 hours before replying, create a list of boundary phrases.
3. **Choose Your Next Right Step**
- Read your list and pick **one small step you can do even on a low-energy day**.
- Check how it feels in your body: open, exciting, like a yes? That’s alignment. Tight or cold? Probably a no for today.
- If nothing feels right, break steps down further. Ask: “What’s one tiny experiment I can try this week?”
4. **Make It Real**
- Write your chosen step in the bottom box.
- When and where will you take it? Set reminders, put trainers by the door, schedule messages.
- Decide what support or accountability you need. Post in the Facebook group, tell someone, get a cheerleader.
##### The Heart of It
- This isn’t about a massive new-me breakthrough.
- It’s quiet, grounded, doable steps that **bring your inner world and outer world into alignment**.
- Constantly recalibrate. Ask yourself: what matters? Am I doing it? If not, why? What do I need to let go of?
##### Sharing & Reflection
- Share your next right step in [[The Cosy Couch Collective|the Facebook group]].
- Notice how it feels. Small steps add up. They **bring everything you’ve explored this week together**.

## Transcript
Okay, so we are on to day five. This is take the next right step. Over this week, we have checked our compass. We figured out what matters most to us. We have found our bearings. So literally, does our inner world match our outer world? We have lightened our load. We have let go of all that bullshit, and we’ve chosen our path for this season, how we want this season to be.
We might not have done all of that. We’ve done some of it. The idea is that we have brought awareness to how we want our life to be, to how we find our way home. The last four days have been more about awareness and figuring shit out. Today is about taking the next right step. It’s about moving forward. How do we put into place all those things that matter? How do we let go of what doesn’t?
If you’re anything like me, I love planners and organisers. If you’re like me, you’ll want to plan out the next 20 steps. That’s how I used to do it. But what I’m learning is it’s all well and good to have a plan. Plans change constantly.
Instead, we’re going to start with just the next right step. Once we’ve taken that step, we recalibrate. What is the next step now? And then the next one. What about now? What’s the next step? We move towards what matters and away from what doesn’t. We don’t need to know the whole picture or grand plan. Today is about the next right step.
Your worksheet today is where you map out all your options. It’s called take the next right step. The idea is simple. Name all the possible steps you could take that either move you towards what matters most or help you let go of what no longer fits. Then choose one. The one that feels right for today.
Print the sheet as many times as you like. Each page is for one aim or intention. Over the last few days, you’ve been creating lists of things you want to move towards or let go of. Take one of those things—the one that matters most right now, or the one that feels easiest. That’s fine too. The one you need to sort out first.
Put your aim at the top. What is your aim? What is the one decision you want to make? The one focus? What you’re moving towards or away from. Maybe you want more quiet mornings like I did. Maybe you want to start a business. Maybe you want to feel strong again, get back into fitness, say no more often, or set boundaries. Maybe you want to let go of some guilt. Keep it honest. It needs to matter to you.
Fill in the boxes with all possible steps. Big or small, preferably small. Don’t overthink. You might need an extra sheet. Keep writing.
Here are a few examples. If your aim is to start a business, your steps could include choose a name, tell someone about it, write down ideas for offers, create a website or Facebook page, decide who to work with, find a coach or mentor. Usually experts tell you to start in a certain order, but sometimes we need to start with what feels right to us. That’s what you do here: choose your next right step.
If your aim is quiet mornings, steps might be: keep your phone downstairs overnight, put on music or headphones first thing, let everyone else do their stuff so you can focus on you, go to bed earlier. Maybe move the gym to afternoon so mornings are quieter. Journal before scrolling.
If your aim is to say no more often and stop people-pleasing, steps could be: practice saying no out loud, wait 24 hours before replying to requests, create a list of personal boundary phrases like “I’ll get back to you” or “Let me think about it.” Maybe cancel a plan done out of guilt.
Everyone’s answers will look different. What matters is what feels right for you.
Once you’ve listed your steps, move to the third part of the worksheet: choose your next right step. Read through your list. Pick one small enough to do even on a low-energy day. Ask yourself what feels right right now.
Listen to your body. Imagine doing each step. Notice what happens inside you. Does it feel open, exciting, like a yes? That counts as alignment. If it feels tight or cold, that’s probably a no for today. If nothing feels inviting, maybe the steps are too big. Break them down. Ask, what’s one tiny experiment I could try this week? Even 1% of the ideal day. What’s a ten-minute version that feels like home?
Ask yourself: what support or accountability do I need? Maybe the first step is simply saying out loud what you want. This is where you come into the Facebook group, chat, and get support. We’re not aiming for perfection. We’re aiming for the next right step.
Once chosen, write it in the bottom box. Make it real. When and where will you take this step? If it’s a conversation, when will it happen? If it’s going for a walk, put your trainers by the door. If it’s meeting someone, set a reminder to message them. Keep it real and doable.
Notice how it feels. Does it feel doable? Does it feel like ease, like home, a little exciting? That’s alignment, finding your way home. It’s not about massive change or a new-me breakthrough. It’s quiet, grounded.
This week, you’ve remembered what matters most, seen where your inner and outer world don’t match, realised what is heavy, reimagined what’s possible. Today is about taking one small step forward.
Come into the Facebook group and share your next right step. Tell us what you’ve discovered. Bring together everything from this week.
I keep coming back to this process myself. Sometimes I work it out in my head: what matters? Am I doing it? If not, why? What do I need to let go of? What do I want my days, weeks, life to look like? From that, I take the next right step. Not a five-year plan, just the next step. Constantly recalibrating, figuring out what’s actually right for me.
Go through this, pick your next right step, and bring everything from the last week together. Take care.
